Joanna Janas-Kaminsky, M.D. filed a personal injury suit against Mary Wenos of Collinsville, alleging she was injured when Wenos collided with the vehicle she was riding in.

According to Janas-Kaminsky, she was a passenger in a 1999 Nissan Quest that was stopped at a red traffic light at the intersection of the I-70 westbound exit ramp and North Bluff Road in Collinsville on July 22, 2006.

She claims Wenos ran through a red stop light with her 2005 Chevrolet Malibu and collided with the Nissan causing her to suffer injuries to her neck, upper back, and chest that resulted in medical expenses, loss of earning capacity, pain and suffering, disability and loss of a normal life.

According to the complaint filed Aug. 29 in Madison County Circuit Court, Wenos negligently failed to keep a proper lookout, failed to stop at a stoplight, drove too fast for conditions and was otherwise negligent.

Janas-Kaminsky is seeking damages in excess of $50,000, plus costs. She is represented by Eric Carlson of Edwardsville.

In February, the estate of Joyce Snow filed a wrongful death and medical malpractice suit against Janas-Kaminsky and other doctors.

Michael Snow of Edwardsville represents the estate.

In that suit, Snow claims the defendants' alleged negligence caused his wife to die due to a brain stem injury caused by an intracerebral-intracentrical hemorrhage that caused great conscious pain and suffering and her death.
