The trustee handling Gary Peel's bankruptcy case is planning to auction off assets of his estate.

One of the pricier items to be sold on eBay is a two-carat 18k gold diamond ring that belonged to Peel's ex-wife, Deborah Pontious. It will be listed for a mere $8,000.

Peel was convicted March 23 by a federal jury on charges of bankruptcy fraud, obstruction of justice and possession of child pornography. While awaiting sentencing he is being held at the Clinton County Jail.

According to recent court documents, bankruptcy trustee Carla Randolph already sold Peel's Tag Heuer watch to Keck Jewelers in Fairview Heights for $5,000.

She also listed 10 items that will be sold on eBay, if by Aug. 20 there are no objections by any debtors.

Items include:

  • Pioneer Elite rear projection TV w/remote, $800

  • Dining room table, eight chairs and china cabinet, $900

  • Recliner with electric massage operator, $175

  • Stuffed chair and ottoman, $25

  • Patio table and four swivel chairs, $125

  • Swivel chair bar stools, $75

  • Mermaid statue, bronze, 10-foot, $5,500

  • Mermaid statue, bronze, seven-foot, $3,500

  • Mermaid table, bronze, $3,000

  • Fountain statue, bronze, two girls, $1,000

Randolph claims Peel's personal property will be sold at no less than 80 percent of list price.

The items for sale once belonged to Peel's second wife, Deborah Pontious, from whom he is now divorced.

Gary Peel sold his half of household furnishings to Pontious for $1. The transfers took place between March 23, 2004, and July 2004.

Pontious was sued by Randolph in June 2006 on allegations Gary Peel fraudulently transferred to her more than $120,000 in property within a 16-month period before he filed for bankruptcy.

Randolph claimed the transfer was made when Peel was insolvent and/or with the intent to hinder, delay or defraud Peel's creditors.

"The transfer was made without consideration and without receiving a reasonably equivalent value in exchange for said transfer," the complaint states.

Peel and Pontious divorced in June of this year, following his criminal conviction.
