Shop N Save sued for puddle on store's floor

Shop N Save

A Godfrey woman injured at the Wood River Shop N Save filed a personal injury suit in Madison County Circuit Court July 11, claiming she injured herself near the checkout lane.

Jean Rynders claims she slipped on a puddle of water that was on the floor on July 16, 2005, causing permanent and disabling injuries.

She claims Shop N Save negligently and carelessly allowed water to be placed and exist on the floor, allowed to the water to remain on the floor, failed to warn of the water on the floor, and failed to cordon off the area with the water.

Rynders claims her injuries have caused her to spend money for medical care and that she has been hindered in attending to the regular and ordinary affairs of life.

Her husband, Tim Rynders, also is seeking damages alleging his wife's injuries have deprived him of the consortium, society, services and companionship his wife provided.

Represented by Donald Brilley of Decatur, the Rynders are seeking damages in excess of $100,000, plus costs of the suit.
