Roller skater sues for slip out of beginner's rink

Fun Spot

A roller skater who tripped and sustained severe injuries while exiting a beginner's rink is suing Fun Spot Skating Arena in Belleville for more than $50,000.

Melinda Conley claims Fun Spot negligently caused its premises to become dangerous.

She tripped on heavy plastic stripping which separated the beginner's rink and the carpeted area of the arena on Feb. 10, according to a suit filed June 26 in St. Clair County Circuit Court.

Conley claims she sustained injuries to her neck, shoulder and low back, among other things.

The suit claims Fun Spot failed to have a good, safe and proper means of ingress and egress to and from the beginners rink to its carpeted area.

Conley is represented by Thomas C. Rich of Fairview Heights.
