Tom Lakin in default for $28k worth of computers

Tom Lakin

Bill collectors have sued Tom Lakin over payments they allege he failed to make on computers.

TBF Financial of Deerfield filed a complaint April 26 against Lakin, seeking $28,691.20 plus attorney fees and costs of collection and enforcement.

Attorney Frank Schmidt of Clayton, Mo., wrote, "Plaintiff has made numerous demands on defendant for the payment of his obligations…"

He wrote that in 2005 Lakin executed a lease with Graybar Financial Services for computers and other equipment.

The lease required 36 monthly payments of $869.40 each and TBF Financial bought the lease last year, he wrote.

Schmidt attached to his complaint a letter Brett Boehm of TBF sent to Lakin last August, stating he would treat it as a collection matter.

The letter stated, "We are in a position to work with you if you respond to this letter by September 1."

According to Schmidt, Lakin made his last payment in October and has been in default since Nov. 4.
