A man injured when an ambulance collided with his pick-up truck filed a personal injury suit against the City of Collinsville and the ambulance driver in Madison County Circuit Court April 18.

Brian Lewis claims Randy Barnett was driving a 2000 Ford Ambulance northbound on Vandalia Avenue in Collinsville when, without warning, collided with the left side of his 1986 Chevrolet truck causing serious personal injuries.

Lewis claims Barnett failed to keep a proper lookout for other vehicles, failed to decrease his speed to avoid an accident, failed to obey traffic control devices and operated the ambulance in a manner that was negligent and careless.

Lewis claims he sustained severe and permanent internal and external injuries to the muscles, ligaments, membranes and nerves of his chest, knee and back, mental pain and anguish, a disability, medical expenses and has lost wages.

Represented by John Raffaelle of Collinsville, Lewis is seeking damages in excess of $200,000, plus costs.

The case has been assigned to Circuit Judge David Hylla.
