Wesling family sues 84-year-old driver

The parents of a Shiloh Elementary School second grader are suing the 84-year-old driver who crashed through a school wall on Jan. 29, killing their 8-year-old son.

Amanda and Kevin Wesling filed suit in St. Clair County Circuit Court March 30.

Represented by Jack B. Spooner of Wittner, Spewak, Maylack & Spooner in St. Louis, the Weslings are seeking in excess of $100,000 from Grace V. Keim for Ryan Wesling's injuries and death.

The incident occurred during the school lunch hour.

"At said time and place defendant's automobile traveled off of the roadway, striking the exterior wall of the Shiloh Elementary School cafeteria, continuing to travel through the exterior wall of the Shiloh Elementary School cafeteria, ultimately striking Ryan Wesling as he was eating lunch," the complaint states.

"Defendant, while operating her motor vehicle at said time and place, carelessly and negligently operated her motor vehicle allowing it to strike and kill Ryan Wesling."
