AmerenIP named in auto accident suit

Ernest Wheeler filed a personal injury suit against Ameren IP claiming one of its employees was negligent while driving a vehicle on Illinois Route 3 near the Olin entrance.

According to the suit filed Feb. 9, in Madison County Circuit Court, Cindy Schlemer, an Ameren IP employee, collided with Wheeler on Dec. 1, 2006. Wheeler claims he sustained neck, shoulder and arm injuries.

Wheeler also claims Schlemer failed to reduce speed to avoid an accident, operated the Ameren vehicle at an unreasonable speed and failed to keep a proper lookout.

He claims his injuries have caused pain and suffering, loss of wages, medical expenses and a disability.

Represented by Lance Mallon of Wood River, Wheeler is seeking damages in excess of $100,000, plus costs.
