R&J Sports Page Inn of East Carondelet and its owner, Ralph Schneider, are being sued by a patron who fell on a broken step.

Doris Barton, represented by James R. Williams of Williams, Caponi and Associates in Belleville, claims she was hurt on Oct. 31, 2004.

According to the suit filed Aug. 2 in St. Clair County Circuit Court, Barton suffered extensive injuries to her head, back, neck and shoulder. She claims she has had to expend money for medical treatment and has suffered disability.

Barton alleges the defendants allowed the step to be broken where customers would enter and exit without fixing it and failed to warn customers of the broken step.
