GRS Construction Co. sued for injuries

By Steve Gonzalez | Jul 25, 2006

James Toon filed a personal injury suit against GRS Construction Company in St. Clair County Circuit Court July 12, seeking damages in excess of $50,000.

Toon, a laborer for Fenix Construction, claims he was permanently injured on Aug. 5, 2005, while working at the Comfort Suites Hotel in Fairview Heights.

He claims GRS failed to properly erect the scaffolding and failed to properly secure the planks to the scaffolding when it knew or should have known that not doing so created a danger to people on the scaffolding.

Toon claims he suffered injuries to his neck and body that caused great pain and mental anguish, lost wages and he became liable for medical expenses.

He is represented by Gregory Shevlin of Belleville.
