National group of bankruptcy attorneys to hold workshop for Katrina survivors

More than 20 experienced consumer bankruptcy attorneys from across the United States will hold a free, special workshop for Katrina survivors on May 20, from 3:30-6 p.m. in the Grand Ballroom of the New Orleans Marriott Hotel, 555 Canal Street.

Childcare will be available for those who need it.

The volunteers are all members of the National Association of Consumer Bankruptcy Attorneys (NACBA), which is holding its 14th annual convention from May 19-21 in New Orleans at the New Orleans Marriott Hotel.

NACBA Executive Director Brad Botes said, "If you are a Katrina survivor who is concerned about a growing debt problem, facing home foreclosure, unsure of your rights when it comes to a mortgage, car payment or credit card bills, or facing bill collectors who are hounding you, please attend this free, no-obligation seminar. NACBA members have been at the forefront of speaking out on behalf of Katrina victims and this is another way for our members to demonstrate how deeply our commitment and concern runs."

Workshop participants are invited to attend a showing of "Maxed Out," a new film recently featured at the Sundance Film Festival, which will be presented at the conclusion of the workshop.
