The parents of a child attacked by a dog named "Fuzzy," filed suit against the owner seeking more than $200,000 in damages.
Clayton and Andrea Merritt allege that on Dec. 22, 2005, their son, Conner, was at Harmony School in Belleville when without provocation Fuzzy bit their son on the face and right arm.
According to a suit filed Feb. 21 in St. Clair County Circuit Court, Keith Harris is Fuzzy's owner.
The Merritts claim Harris negligently and carelessly failed to properly restrain Fuzzy, permitted a dog that he knew had vicious propensities to roam freely in the neighborhood, and failed to warn people that Fuzzy has bitten other people in the past.
According to the Merritts, Conner suffered permanent disfiguring scars and sustained great pain and anguish.
They also claim that they have and will continue to be obligated to pay for medical expenses to treat Conner's injuries.
The Merritts are represented by Bruce Cook of Cook, Ysursa, Bartholomew, Brauer & Shevlin in Belleville.
