Claiming the owner of her Moro apartment failed to properly maintain a door handle, Doris Jean Steiner filed a $50,000 personal injury suit in Madison County Circuit Court Feb. 13.
Steiner's apartment at 236 Main Street in Moro is owned by Illinois Land Trust #96-015570-0, Bank of Edwardsville Trustee.
According to the complaint, the door handle came off and Steiner fell off the side of the porch while she was attempting to open her door on May 4, 2005.
Steiner claims she suffered severe and permanent injuries that have hindered and prevented her from attending to her usual and customary affairs, duties and occupation.
She also claims that she has become liable for medical expenses, lost wages and has suffered a disability.
Steiner is represented by Steve Selby of Alton. The case has been assigned to Circuit Judge Daniel Stack.
