New Lawsuits: Tuesday Jan. 3

Northland Insurance Company, State Farm Insurance Company v. Salton Inc.

  • The insurance companies allege that a timer manufactured by Salton was defective causing a house fire at one of their clients home in Wood River on Jan. 12, 2004. State Farm is seeking $25,000 in damages for payments made and Northland is seeking $61,761.18.

    Lanter Company v. Macheca Transport Company Inc., d/b/a Gateway Cold Storage

  • Lanter claims that Gateway was storing food products as Lanter's bailee on Nov. 18, 2001, when the products became damaged due to exposure to anhydrous ammonia. Lanter is seeking a judgment for an amount in excess of $104,949.86, plus costs of the suit.
