Payless shoe store

Lisa Rigg filed a personal injury suit against Payless Shoesouce in Madison County Circuit Court Nov. 8, seeking damages in excess of $50,000 for injuries she received while shopping for shoes at the Alton store on Nov. 9, 2003.

Rigg alleges that while she was in the process of looking for shoes she fell over several boxes which caused her to sustain significant injuries and fractures to her right foot.

“The numerous boxes lying in the aisle of the store were in an unreasonably dangerous condition,” the complaint states.

According to Rigg, Payless allowed numerous boxes to remain in the aisle ways of the store when they knew or should have known that customers would be walking in the aisle, failed to warn her of the boxes in the aisle and failed to inspect aisles to determine whether there were boxes located in the aisle.

Rigg claims that her injuries have hindered and prevented her from attending to her usual duties and affairs and that she has become liable for medical expenses to become healed and cured of her injury.

Rigg is represented by Joseph Hoefert of Hoefert and Perica of Alton. The case has been assigned to Circuit Judge Andy Matoesian.
