Railroader files FELA suit in St. Clair County

A former Alton & Southern Railway trackman is suing his former employer for permanent injuries he allegedly sustained on the job.

Seeking in excess of $50,000, Willis T. McCoy filed a Federal Employers' Liability Act suit in St. Clair County on Oct. 12, claiming he was subjected to "numerous repetitive traumas and walking on unstable ballast" during his 40-year employment with the railroad.

McCoy claims neck, back and spinal injuries, as well as great pain and mental anguish.

He claims the railroad was negligent for not providing sufficient manpower and a safe place to work.

McCoy is represented by Gregory M. Tobin of the East Alton firm, Pratt & Tobin.
