Edgar Mareshie is suing lawn furniture maker US Leisure and mega retailer Home Depot because the adirondack chair he bought collapsed when he sat on it May 29. He claims the chair did not provide adequate instructions regarding the chair's weight limit.

Seeking more than $150,000, Mareshie states he broke his acronium bone and aggravated a previous total shoulder replacement. The suit was filed Aug. 1 in St. Clair County Circuit Court.

Represented by Thomas Q. Keefe, Jr. of Belleville, Mareshie claims that he has suffered permanent pain, mental anguish, disability and disfigurement.

"The product was in a defective, unreasonably dangerous condition," the complaint states. "It failed to perform in a manner reasonably expected, it collapsed."
