Gloria Beisiegel of Freeburg filed suit against her local grocery store on June 17 in St Clair County Circuit Court seeking $100,000 in damages, claiming that a rug was placed in the wrong location at the Tom’s Supermarket. Norrenberns Foods runs the store.
Beisiegel claims that on April 22, 2004 she fell at the grocery store sustaining injuries to her left shoulder which caused mental anguish along with pain and suffering.
According to Beisiegel, Tom’s failed to keep their aisle in a safe condition, placed a rug in the wrong location, and negligently and carelessly allowed a rug to buckle.
Her injuries have prevented Beisiegel from attending to her usual affairs and duties and she has become liable for medical expenses, the suit claims.
Melvin Beisiegel also is seeking damages claiming he has lost the valuable services his wife once provided.
The Beisiegels are represented by Joseph Bartholomew of Cook, Ysursa, Bartholomew, Brauer, and Shevlin of Belleville.
