Tavern sued for driver's acceleration

Mac's Timeout in Alton

Melissa Allen filed suit against Mac’s Timeout in Madison County Circuit Court June 10, alleging the Alton tavern sold alcohol to a patron who later injured her while she was standing on the running boards of a truck.

The unnamed patron, who is not being held liable in the lawsuit, was the driver of the truck.

Allen claims the driver accelerated the vehicle at a high rate of speed causing her to violently fall to the ground.

According to the complaint, Allen suffered serious and permanent injures, suffered mental anguish, and has become liable for medical expenses.

Represented by Bob Perica of Alton, Allen is seeking at least $50,000 in damages for the injuries she sustained.

The case has been assigned to Circuit Judge Daniel Stack.
