Gateway Regional Medical Center
Gateway Regional Medical Center of Granite City will be in court May 12 trying to convince Circuit Judge Nicholas Byron to dismiss them from a medical malpractice lawsuit filed by Bonnie and Jimmy Seitz on March 10.
Bonnie Seitz claims that on Sept. 30, 2004, co-defendant John Petrovich, M.D. allegedly removed an abdominal mass and was careless by:
Seitz claims Gateway recruited Petrovich to be its “chief surgeon” without screening him to disclose his addiction to illegal drugs and failed to monitor him for cocaine use. She also claims that Gateway was aware Petrovich had a cocaine addiction after an employee of the hospital reported it.
According to the complaint, Seitz has sustained great pain, disability, unnecessary surgeries, medical expenses and lost wages.
Represented by Robert Wilson of Granite City, Seitz is seeking at least $300,000 in damages.
Gateway is represented by Stephen Potter and Jason Kinser of St. Louis.
