Belleville nursing home resident alleges neglect in suit

Renaissance on Royal Heights Road in Belleville

Nursing home resident Nathan Traylor is suing The Renaissance in Belleville for more than $100,000 claiming he suffered chest, abdomen, rib and other injuries that were diagnosed there on May 1, 2003.

Traylor is represented by Staci M. Yandle of the The Rex Carr Law Firm in East St. Louis.

Listing a string of violations of the Nursing Home Care Act and Medicare regulations, Traylor claims he was the victim of neglect in the suit filed April 28 in St. Clair County Circuit Court. Among other things, he alleges the nursing home failed to provide 24-hour nursing services from enough qualified personnel.

The suit also names Royal Heights Nursing & Rehabilitation Center LLC. According to the suit, the alleged negligence took place between Jan. 16, 1998 and May 1, 2003.

"As a further direct and proximate result...Traylor has suffered and continues to suffer repeated pain and suffering, mental anguish, emotional distress and has become further debilitated and disabled," the complaint states.
