Eve Pitts filed suit against Q-Mart Grocery in Cahokia alleging she sustained permanent neck and back injuries when an employee fell on her near the check-out counter.

The suit was filed in St. Clair County Circuit Court April 11 and claims the incident took place on April 12, 2003.

Defendants include William Skidis, Q-Mart True Value Hardware, Quickway Foods, Q-Mart Grocery and Quickway Foods Inc.

According to the suit, the store was negligent because it allowed an employee to do work on a ladder at or near the check-out line and the employee failed to keep a proper lookout for patrons.

Represented by David Nester of Nester & Constance in Belleville, Pitts is seeking in excess of $50,000.
