Reporter's story gets fame and 'fark'

An investigative report by The Record's reporter, Steve Korris, "Attorney accidentally sues himself," gained unexpected attention when it was posted live to the paper's website March 9.

After being linked to "fark.com," a collection of oddball news stories from a variety of local and national media sources, The Record's website, www.madisonrecord.com, was "hit" by more than 30,000 curious readers.

While the deluge of visitors temporarily clogged and incapacitated the site, it also grabbed the attention of two St. Louis radio talk show hosts--Paul Harris of KMOX AM 1120 and McGraw Milhaven of KTRS AM-550.

Korris conducted live interviews with Harris and Milhaven, giving tens of thousands of St. Louis-area listeners greater insight into what he discovered while investigating class action lawsuits in the Madison County Circuit Court.

One "fark" commentator added their take on Korris' story:

"A less extreme situation occurred when the John Hancock tower was built in Boston. The glass windows kept popping out and falling dozens of stories to the ground. So Hancock sued the architect (I.M. Pei and sons), who sued the subcontractor who sued the distributor. All parties involved were required to buy their liability insurance from guess who? John Hancock. So the money just went around in a circle!"
