Casino Queen patron racks up $16k in medical expenses

Casino Queen

A defective and dangerous escalator which suddenly jerked and jolted is the crux of a recent lawsuit against Casino Queen. Seeking in excess of $50,000 in damages, Shirley Allen filed suit Feb. 7 in St. Clair County Circuit Court.

Allen, who visited the East St. Louis casino on May 12, 2003, claims she suffered severe and permanent personal injuries to her left shoulder, left upper extremity and neck. She states she has spent $16,000 in medical expenses to treat her injuries.

"Casino Queen, Inc. should have known of the dangerous and defective condition of said escalator," according to the suit.

Allen is represented by William K. Meehan of University City, Mo.
