Filing a lawsuit in the Third Judicial Circuit's Civil Division will cost the public more beginning in January. Indeed, most, but not all, fees are on the rise.
Madison County Chief Deputy Circuit Clerk Judy Nelson said the increase was a Madison County Board decision.
She added that money collected from filing fees is directed into the county's general fund.
There has not been a filing fee increase in recent years, according to Nelson.
