A motorcyclist involved in a violent collision is seeking retribution in familiar turf.

With at least 14 encounters with the traffic, family and civil divisions of Madison County Circuit Court, Rocky C. Rhodes, of Wood River, has filed suit against the Madison County woman he was involved in an accident with on Sept. 9, 2003.

He is seeking more than $50,000 from Barbara Bramlet for damages that include mental anxiety, depression and the inability to enjoy social activity.

In the suit, he claims that Bramlet, who was northbound on Sixth Street in Wood River, was negligent as she failed to yield right of way while attempting a left hand turn onto Madison Avenue. Rhodes was southbound on Sixth Street when Bramlet struck him.

Bramlet also failed to reduce speed, keep a proper lookout and keep her vehicle under control, according to the complaint.

Rhodes suffered numerous internal and external injuries.

“Plaintiff was made sick, sore, lame and disordered and suffered extensive injuries to his head, neck, right shoulder, chest and back,” according to the suit filed Nov. 29 in Madison County Circuit Court.

Rhodes, represented by Jay R. Tomerlin of the Tomerlin Law Office in East Alton, also claims lost wages, medical expenses and permanent disability.
