A woman alleges she suffered significant chronic pain after mesh products inserted into her body caused adverse tissue reactions.

Anne M. Klene and Richard T. Klene filed a lawsuit Oct. 31 in St. Clair County Circuit Court against Boston Scientific Corporation, Boston Scientific Sales, Mentor Worldwide and Johnson and Johnson.

In their complaint, the Klenes allege Anne M. Klene underwent several procedures in which transvaginal mesh manufactured by the defendant were inserted into her body to treat pelvic organ prolapse and stress urinary incontinence. However, the mesh caused hyper-inflammatory responses, leading Anne M. Klene to experience chronic pain, according to the complaint.

The Klenes allege negligence, design defect and fraudulent concealment against the defendants.

In their complaint, they seek compensatory and punitive damages of more than $50,000, plus costs, attorney fees and other relief the court deems just.

Attorney Michael L. McGlynn of McGlynn and McGlynn in Belleville will represent the plaintiffs.

St. Clair County Circuit Court case number: 14-L-723.
