A Wood River man is being sued for allegedly rear-ending another driver who was stopped in traffic.

Alicia Anderson filed a lawsuit Oct. 17 in Madison County Circuit Court against Stephen S. Budnicki.

According to the petition, Anderson was driving her Mini Cooper east on Penning Street in Wood River on Sept. 16. At the same time, Anderson says, Budnicki was driving his Pontiac Grand Am in the same direction on Penning Street. As she was stopped at the intersection of Ninth Street, Anderson alleges she was hit from behind by Budnicki.

Anderson says she was hurt in the crash and seeks more than $50,000 in damages for medical expenses, loss of income and court fees. Attorney Samuel A. Mormino, of Alton, represents her.

Madison County Circuit Court case number: 14-L-1411.
