The mother of a 13-year-old girl claims her daughter suffered from heat exhaustion while on a field trip, according to a recently filed lawsuit.
Antonette Moore filed a lawsuit June 27 in the St. Clair County Circuit Court against Lebanon Kids.
In her complaint, Moore claims her daughter, Markayla Anderson, was on a field trip to the Missouri History Museum in St. Louis on June 29, 2012, when she suffered from heat exhaustion and dehydration while exposed to 106-degree heat.
Moore blames the staff at Lebanon Kids, who conducted the field trip, for causing her daughter’s injuries, saying they negligently failed to supervise children, failed to prevent heat exhaustion and decided to have an outdoor field trip when they knew of the extreme heat. She also says staff failed to warn children about the dangerous conditions and failed to see that the children were properly hydrated, according to the complaint.
Moore seeks a judgment of more than $100,000, plus costs and other relief the court deems just. She is being represented by attorneys Robert G. Wuller Jr. and Derek J. Siegel of Neville, Richards and Wuller in Belleville.
