BELLEVILLE — A motorist is suing driver Roy M. Stanley, alleging he took insufficient measures to avoid causing a collision in Fairview Heights in January.

Normajean McKune filed a complaint on April 18 in the St. Clair County Circuit Court against Stanley alleging that he failed to operate his vehicle in a careful manner.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that on Jan. 26, 2017, she sustained injuries to various parts of her body when defendant's vehicle negligently collided with her vehicle, which was traveling in an easterly direction on St. Clair Avenue near its intersection with Illinois State Route 161. Plaintiff suffered pain and permanent disability and became obligated to expend money for medical expenses. The plaintiff holds Stanley responsible because the defendant allegedly failed to yield right-of-way, failed to maintain a careful lookout and failed to stop, slow or swerve to avoid a collision.

The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks judgment against defendant in an amount in excess of $50,000, plus costs of this action. She is represented by Brad L. Badgley of Brad L. Badgley PC in Belleville.
