EDWARDSVILLE — A woman is suing a motorist who allegedly hit and killed her father as he walked along Illinois Route 140 in Alton.

Michelle M. Allen, as special administrator of Lester W. Anderson's estate, filed a complaint on April 26 in the Madison County Circuit Court against Dossie W. Roberson, alleging that the defendant failed to exercise a duty of reasonable care in the operation of the automobile he was driving.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that on July 27, 2015, her father was a pedestrian walking in the vicinity of the north side of the northernmost eastbound lane of Illinois Route 140 near Powder Mill Road in Alton when he was struck by the defendant's automobile, causing his untimely death.

As the result of his death, the plaintiff and her mother have been deprived of his love, support and services.

The plaintiff alleges Roberson operated his motor vehicle on a roadway while using an electronic communication device, failed to give warning by sounding the horn and failed to operate his vehicle at a reasonable speed.

The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks judgment for a sum in excess of $50,000 plus costs of suit and other further relief.

She is represented by J. Roberts Edmonds of Edmonds Law Office PC in Edwardsville.
