Pedestrian allegedly struck while crossing crosswalk

Car accident 05

BELLEVILLE — A pedestrian claims he was injured when a motorist struck him while crossing a crosswalk at Scott Air Force Base.

John Peterson filed a complaint on Feb. 22 in the St. Clair County Circuit Court against Gloria Francis, alleging she failed to exercise ordinary care and caution while operating her vehicle.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that on Nov. 9, 2016, he was a pedestrian on a crosswalk at Scott Air Force Base when he was struck by the defendant's motor vehicle.

As a result, Peterson claims he suffered physical injuries, pain and incurred medical expenses.

The plaintiff alleges the defendant failed to keep a proper lookout for pedestrians, failed to properly apply brakes and operated her vehicle at an excessive rate of speed.

The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks judgment for a fair and just award in excess of $50,000 plus cost of this suit and any other further relief the court deems just and proper.

He is represented by Thomas C. Rich, Kristina D. Cocksey and Michelle M. Rich of Rich, Rich and Cooksey, PC in Fairview Heights.
