BELLEVILLE — A Belleville bicycle rider is suing a local motorist, alleging the defendant's negligence led to injuries for the plaintiff.

Zachary J. Bolbach filed a lawsuit Aug. 19 in St. Clair County Circuit Court against Jordan W. McQuarrie,  alleging negligence in failing to keep a vehicle under proper control.

According to the complaint, on July 24, 2015, Bolbach was riding a bicycle eastbound on Carlyle Avenue approaching Mandalay Drive in Belleville when he was struck by McQuarrie's vehicle. The suit says the crash caused Bolbach to sustain injuries to his head, back and neck, leading to pain, suffering and expenses for medical care, treatment and services.

The plaintiff alleges McQuarrie failed to keep a proper lookout and failed to properly and timely apply his brakes.

The plaintiff seeks trial by jury, judgment of more than $50,000, plus costs of suit. He is represented by attorney Chet A. Kelly of Foley & Kelly LLC in Belleville.
