EDWARDSVILLE — A Madison County motorist is suing a truck driver and the owner of the truck, alleging their negligence caused a crash that injured the plaintiff.

Christian Mayberry filed a lawsuit Aug. 15 in Madison County Circuit Court against Clarence Longwell Sr. and Parrish Leasing Co., doing business as Parrish Trucking, alleging negligence in failing to properly operate a vehicle to avoid a crash.

According to the complaint, on May 27, Mayberry was driving a 2009 Pontiac G3 eastbound on state Route 140 and South Neunaber Drive in Madison. At the same time, the suit says, Longwell, who who was operating a truck owned by Parrish, struck Mayberry's vehicle, causing the plaintiff to sustain injuries, including pain and suffering, plus lost wages and medical expenses.

The plaintiff alleges Longwell illegally crossed the center of the highway, failed to keep proper lookout, and failed to keep his vehicle in the proper lane.

Mayberry seeks trial by jury, judgment of more than $50,000 from each defendant, plus costs of suit. He is represented by attorney Jane Unsell of Unsell, Schattnik & Phillips PC in Wood River.
