Patient alleges dental care providers' negligence led to injuries

Medical malpractice 03

EDWARDSVILLE — A patient is suing a dentist and her practice, alleging their negligence led to injuries for the plaintiff.

Krista Sheriff filed a lawsuit July 25 in St. Clair County Circuit Court against Dr. Angela Tenholder and Smileology PC, alleging negligence in failing to recognize and correct a dental problem.

According to the complaint, Sheriff was a patient of Tenholder's from 2008 through Jan. 9, 2015, and during that time Tenholder negligently performed various procedures to the plaintiff. The suit says these procedures caused Sheriff to sustain severe injuries that required additional dental and medical treatment.

The plaintiff alleges the defendants failed to properly install braces and veneers, failed to treat Sheriff's bite problem and failed to refer the plaintiff to a specialist.

Sheriff seeks a trial by jury, judgment of more than $75,000, plus costs of suit. She is represented by attorneys James R. Mendillo and Shane Moskop of Freeark, Harvey & Mendillo PC in Belleville.
