Auto accident trial involving '10 Maryville accident results in defense verdict

Jurors in Madison County Circuit Judge Andreas Matoesian's court on Wednesday found in favor of defendant Robert Osterhout, who had been sued over a 2010 auto accident in Maryville.

Plaintiff Michael Thomason, represented by William Beatty and Adam Berry of Beatty and Motil of Glen Carbon, had claimed that Osterhout's vehicle struck his in the rear as he was stopped northbound on 159, waiting to turn left onto the entrance ramp to I-270.

Thomason claimed he suffered severe injuries and spent large sums of money on medical care as a result of the accident that took place Nov. 22, 2010. In his suit, he sought at least $50,000 in damages.

Osterhout was represented by Tori Walls of the Reed Armstrong firm in Edwardsville.

He had denied negligence.

The trial began Tuesday.

Madison County Circuit Court case number 12-L-91.
