Motorist alleges another driver's negligence caused accident, injuries

EDWARDSVILLE – A female motorist is suing another driver, alleging negligence over injuries she says she received during an automobile accident.

Danielle E. Dettmers filed a lawsuit Feb. 4 in Madison County Circuit Court against Sandra Lynn Baker, alleging negligence.

According to the complaint, on Feb. 13, 2014, Dettmers was driving her car on Arkansas Road at the intersection with Bellm Road in Helvetia, and, at the same time, Baker was driving east on Bellm Road at the same Arkansas Road intersection.

The suit says the defendant's vehicle collided with Dettmers' vehicle, because Baker failed to reduce her speed, failed to brake, failed to keep a proper lookout, failed to obey the traffic sign at the intersection and failed to yield to oncoming traffic at the intersection.

The suit says Baker's negligence caused injuries to the plaintiff, especially to her neck. Dettemrs says she has incurred medical bills and expects to do so in the future, endured pain and suffering, experienced lost wages and loss of earning capacity, and suffered disability and disfigurement.

Dettmers seeks judgment of more than $50,000, plus court costs and other relief the court deems just and proper. She is represented by attorney Rodney D. Caffey of The Caffey Law Firm LLC in Godfrey.
