Motorist alleges another driver's negligence led to accident, injuries

EDWARDSVILLE – A motorist is suing another driver, alleging negligence for injuries she says she suffered in an automobile collision caused by the defendant.

Rebecca Busick filed a lawsuit Jan. 25 in Madison County Circuit Court against Tyler Christopher Nelson, alleging negligence.

According to the complaint, on March 13, 2014, Buscik was driving her vehicle on state Route 159 near the intersection of Glen Carbon Road in Glen Carbon, and the defendant was concurrently driving his vehicle directly behind the plaintiff.   The lawsuit says Nelson failed to keep his automobile under proper control, failed to keep a proper lookout, failed to stop in time to avoid colliding with the plaintiff's vehicle and failed to reduce his speed to avoid an accident, among other negligent acts.

The lawsuit states the resulting collision caused bodily injury to Busick, some of which may be permanent.

The suit says the plaintiff has suffered and will continue to suffer pain and mental anguish, disability and loss of a normal life, medical expenses, plus property damage and expenses related to her vehicle.

Busick seeks at least $50,000, plus court costs. She is represented by attorney Michael P. Glisson of Williamson, Webster, Falb & Glisson of Alton.
