An Illinois man is suing a driver who allegedly hit him with his vehicle in a bar parking lot.

Patrick Watts filed a lawsuit on Aug. 6 in St. Clair County Circuit Court against Dustin Middendorf, alleging negligence and carelessness.

According to the complaint, on Nov. 28, 2013, Watts was standing in the parking lot of J.R.'s Last Call Tavern in Belleville when Middendorf allegedly drove his vehicle into him.

The suit says the defendant failed to keep proper control of his vehicle, drive under the legal limit for alcohol, stop or swerve to avoid the crash, and drive at a safe speed.

As a result, Watts claims he sustained hip, shoulder, knee, back, foot, ankle, face and head injuries as well as pain and suffering, and medical expenses.

Watts seeks damages of more than $50,000, plus costs. He is represented by attorney David H. Bone of Belleville.

St. Clair County Circuit Court case number 15-L-446.
