A Madison County woman is suing a motor company, claiming she suffered permanent injuries in a traffic accident.

JaAvante Carter filed a lawsuit on July 2 in the Madison County Circuit Court against Piasa Enterprises Inc. Piasa Motor Fuels and Adam Bagley, all of Hartford, alleging negligence.

According to the complaint, on July 30, 2013, Carter was driving her vehicle on state Route 3 nearing its intersection with Rand Avenue when, as a result of defendants’ negligence in observing traffic laws, Bagley's vehicle collided with plaintiff's vehicle. The suit says Bagley is an employee of Piassa.

The plaintiff claims the crash caused injuries to her neck, back and left upper and lower extremities. She says she suffered an ulnar collateral ligament tear of her right hand, which requires additional treatment, therapy and possible surgical repair, and also alleges to have suffered injury to her right knee. The plaintiff alleges the effects of her injuries are permanent.

The lawsuit states the defendants failed to keep a lookout for oncoming vehicles and yield as required by law and that Bagley failed to obey the stop sign.

Carter seeks $50,000, plus costs. She is represented by attorneys John S. Wallach and Bruce J. Weingart of the Law Office of John S. Wallach in St. Louis.

Madison County Circuit Court case number 15-L-965.
