Rear-ended driver sues motorist for alleged injuries

A St. Clair County man is suing a motorist for allegedly causing a 2014 auto accident.

Joseph D. McQueen filed a complaint on June 18 in St. Clair County Circuit Court against Brandon J. Turner of Belleville, alleging vehicular negligence in a June 2014 collision.

According to the complaint, McQueen was stopped facing eastbound on Frank Scott Parkway in Fairview Heights on June 14, 2014. The suit states that the defendant was also traveling eastbound and was directly behind the plaintiff’s vehicle when he allegedly failed to stop, causing his vehicle to come into contact with the plaintiff’s vehicle.

The suit states that Turner was in breach of his duty to the plaintiff and others on the public roadway to operate his automobile with due care for others’ safety. The plaintiff claims the defendant failed to reduce his speed in order to avoid an accident, violated Illinois traffic regulations and drove his vehicle in such a way as to cause it to strike the rear of McQueen’s auto.

Claiming severe physical injuries, McQueen alleges damage to his neck, back, shoulder and leg, internal injuries, loss of a normal life, emotional distress and medical expenses.

The plaintiff seeks judgment in his favor for compensation in excess of $50,000 along with attorneys’ fees and costs. He is represented by Shaun Lieser of Lieser Law Firm in Saint Louis.
