Woman sues Gold’s Gym after slipping on tile

A St. Clair County woman is suing a gym over a 2015 slip and fall resulting in physical injuries to the plaintiff.

Patricia Harter filed a lawsuit June 10 in St. Clair County Circuit Court against Gold’s Gym International Inc., doing business in O’Fallon on allegations of negligence.

According to the filing, Harter fell into an exercise pool operated and maintained by the defendant on or about May 25, 2015. Court documents indicate that she purportedly slipped on a black glass-like tile surface at the pool’s edge. The plaintiff claims that she suffered permanent injuries to her left ankle as a direct and proximate result of the defendant’s negligent acts or omissions.

The suit states that Gold’s failed to provide a safe way to enter the water, post adequate notice of the hazardous nature of the tile surface, and improperly maintained the facility.

The plaintiff seeks judgment in her favor for damages in excess of $50,000 plus attorneys’ fees and costs. She is represented by Todd Harter Fleming of The Law Firm of Fleming & Ulkus in O’Fallon.
