A woman is suing a motorist for allegedly causing a collision after failing to obey traffic signals.

Teresa Boner filed a lawsuit on June 18 in St. Clair County Circuit Court against Charles Riley II, claiming vehicular negligence in a June 2013 crash.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff was driving southbound on IL-111 near its intersection with Horseshoe Lake Road in Nameoki Township on June 27, 2013. The suit states that the defendant attempted a left turn onto Horseshoe Lake from the highway, causing a collision with Boner’s automobile.

The plaintiff alleges that Riley failed to yield the right of way, obey a traffic signal, observe oncoming traffic, keep a proper lookout for other vehicles, and drive at a safe speed.

Court documents indicate that Boner incurred permanent injuries to her back, neck, head, limbs and general body. She maintains that as a direct and proximate result of Riley’s negligence, she has experienced headaches, nausea, nervousness, pain, suffering, swelling and inflammation, dizziness, limited motion, medical expenses and impaired enjoyment of life.

The plaintiff seeks judgment in her favor for damages in excess of $50,000, plus attorneys’ fees and costs.

She is represented by Bruce Mattea in Collinsville.
