Heyl Royster announces new attorney in Edwardsville office

Heyl Royster has announced that attorney James Grabowski has joined the firm as "of counsel."

Grabowski coordinates the defense of the firm’s asbestos clients, which includes litigation management, preparation of defense strategies and discovery and document production.

In addition he conducts and defends depositions of fact witnesses, corporate representatives, treating physicians and experts.

Grabowski started his career at a general insurance defense law firm in St. Louis and then practiced in the areas of complex business litigation and asbestos defense at a mid-sized Illinois firm. He has coordinated all aspects of asbestos litigation for clients sued in multiple jurisdictions including, Illinois, Missouri, Delaware, Texas, New York and California.

He is licensed to practice in Missouri and Illinois. He is a member of the Illinois State Bar Association, Defense Research Institute and Illinois Association of Defense Trial Counsel.

He was recognized as an Illinois Super Lawyers Rising Star in 2013.

He serves as an arbitrator for the Madison County Bar, and he is a former Board member and chair of fundraising for Habitat for Humanity.

Grabowski received a bachelor of science degree in finance, as well as his juris doctorate from Southern Illinois University.
