An Alton couple says they were hurt when another driver crashed into them at an intersection in Godfrey.

Fred and Barbara Wieneke filed a lawsuit Oct. 18 in Madison County Circuit Court against William F. Huebner.

The Wienekes say they were driving south on Godfrey Road in December 2012. At the same time, Huebner was driving north on Godfrey Road, according to the complaint, As they neared Pearl Street, the Wienekes say the traffic signal light was green so proceeded into the intersection. They claim Huebner had a red light at the time he arrived at the intersection but did not stop. Huebner crashed into the Wienekes' car, according to the complaint.

Fred Wieneke claims his back was hurt in the crash. Barbara says she was hospitalized with a punctured lung and other serious injuries. The Wienekes accuse Huebner of negligence and ask for more than $100,000 in damages for medical expenses and costs of the lawsuit.
