Gleeson sets status conference in suit over loan, mortgage defaults

St. Clair County Circuit Judge Andrew Gleeson has scheduled an Oct. 14 status conference in a case accusing a woman of owing Associated Bank more than $60,000.

The bank filed the lawsuit July 15 against Karen Myles-Johnson, alleging she defaulted on her home equity loan and mortgage payments.

Myles allegedly signed a promissory note and security agreement in June 2006 but later defaulted on the mortgage, the suit states in seeking more than $47,000 plus interest.

In addition to defaulting on her mortgage payments, the bank claims Myles failed to make the required payments on a home equity loan she took out in August 2006.A balance of more than $14,500 plus interest remains on the loan, the suit states.

The bank seeks a judgment of more than $61,000.

Decatur attorney J. Gregory Scott represents Associated Bank. An attorney for Myles has not yet been identified.
