Open letter to House Speaker Boehner

Dear House Majority Speaker John Boehner:

Eighty (80) members of the House have signed the Meadows letter to defund Obamacare.

Why are you trying to scuttle the only way possible to get rid of the scourge of Obamacare by attempting to push on House Republicans a way to fool their constituents by a "hocus pocus" plan for defunding Obamacare? Is your plan meant to fool the American people into believing they oppose Obamacare, while they are doing everything in their power to ensure that Obamacare becomes a permanent fixture on the American landscape?

Try as you may, Speaker Boehner, this ploy will not work, even if you do convince your House Republicans to use the ruse as a way to fool their constituents, rather than to allow them to comfortably sign on to the Meadows letter.

You just don't get it, Rep. Boehner.  You say that you could lose the House if the government is shut down.  This is silly talk.  You are more likely to lose the House if you don't adopt exclusively the continuing resolution measure to defund Obamacare.

There is so much anger against House members who are not doing what they were elected to do, that millions might choose not to vote at all in 2014.  Why vote when Republican establishment members and RINOS are willing to give our country away to the Democrats through such false thinking that comprehensive immigration reform must happen and that Obamacare can be tinkered with once it is fully enacted in 2014?  This is the Karl Rove theory which is doomed to failure.

Republicans, by heeding the advice of Rove and others, will only ensure that this nation will progress further into bankruptcy.  Giving amnesty to millions of illegals will most certainly lead to the demise of a viable Republican Party, when millions of individuals now able to vote, morph into Democratic voters and they, in turn, are permitted to bring in their relatives.

It is a sad day when so many Republicans believe they must try to duplicate what is proposed by Democrats.  Republicans will never win, for Democrats will always outstrip Republicans in their spending maneuvers to gain and to keep in bondage their Democratic voters.

Republicans could win by standing on principle and explaining to the American people the destructive nature of Obama's policies, especially as they pertain to eroding the principles of our Constitution.  Instead, Republicans are afraid to criticize Obama because he is (half) black, either unable or unwilling to separate Obama's race from his policies.  Aren't there many fine black Republican conservative individuals and leaders who could be extolled for what they stand for and who could dispel Republican hesitancy to treat Obama other than with kid gloves?

I'll be hearing a black conservative speak, Dr. Ben Carson, as the special guest at the Illinois Family Institute's fall banquet on October 4 at the Midwest Conference Center in Northlake, Illinois.  Dr. Carson, a highly respected, highly gifted, award-winning pediatric neurosurgeon, didn't hesitate to take President Obama on when he delivered the keynote speech at the National Prayer Breakfast in February of this year.

It is time for you to wake up from your slumber and be a leader instead of a patsy for the Democratic Party, Rep. Boehner.  Do the right thing by defunding Obamacare, using only the measure that amends the continuing resolution to defund Obamacare.  If you do the right thing the conservative base will respect and honor you, instead of distrusting you and your leadership and further declaring a pox on both parties.  Never doubt that the Republican Party needs the support of its conservative base to win elections.

Also worth remembering, Speaker Boehner, is that playing "nicey nice" with the Democratic Party is not going to make either the media or the Democratic Party suddenly shower the Republican Party with thanks.  As when trying to compromise with Democrats, Republicans always end up with the short end of the deal or nothing at all, often being pleased to partake of the leftover crumbs.

So be bold for a change and reach for the stars by doing what is right for the American people, listening to them, instead of falling for the destructive and deceptive traps laid down by the Obama administration and agreed to in an almost slavish way by congressional Democrats.

Such boldness might even lead to some respect and appreciation for a change, Speaker Boehner, for you and fellow House members.  This new boldness could begin by discarding the trickery you have in mind and instead have House members vote only on the resolution that amends the continuing resolution to defund Obamacare.
