St. Clair County Circuit Judge Robert LeChien set a Sept. 16 status conference in a lawsuit against a school bus company after parents and students at an O’Fallon elementary school say they were hurt.

Lisa Gish, Justin Jenkins and Lillian Jenkins, individually and on behalf of their minor children, filed a lawsuit against Illinois Central School Bus LLC Sept. 19 in St. Clair County Circuit Court.

According to the complaint, all three parents and their children were in their cars in the parking lot of Central Elementary School in April. At that time, the plaintiffs allege they were hit from behind by a school bus owned and operated by Illinois Central School Bus.

LeChien had set status conferences on Aug. 1 and July 8. Illinois Central School Bus LLC denied the allegations and requested the lawsuit be dismissed in their response to the lawsuit on Jan. 11.

Gish and the Jenkins accuse the bus company of comparative negligence and ask for more than $50,000 in damages.

The plaintiffs are represented by attorneys Thomas C. Rich and Kristina D. Cooksey of Fairview Heights.

Rory R. Margulis represents the defense.
