Airline Mobile Home Village sued after visitor falls through subfloor

A man is suing the owner of an East Alton mobile home after he fell through the floor.

Jeremy C. Gallup filed a complaint against Airline Mobile Home Village Inc. on July 29 in Madison County Circuit Court.

Gallup says he visited a mobile home on Evelyn Lane in East Alton on Jan. 31. He says he was visiting a tenant in the property owned by Airline Mobile Home Village. Gallup says he was walking across the bedroom floor when the subfloor beneath the carpet "suddenly and without warning, collapsed and gave way" causing him to trip and fall. Gallup's left knee was injured in the fall, the complaint states.

Airline Mobile Home Village maintained access and control to the property and, according to the complaint, is responsible for all structural repairs to the subfloors. He says, therefore, the company should have known that the mobile home was "unreasonably dangerous" and should have taken steps to correct the alleged defects.

Gallup accuses Airline Mobile Home Village of negligence, claiming his injuries were a direct result of the defendant's willful and wanton failure to maintain a safe property. He asks for $50,000 in damages.

Attorney Andrea D. McNairy of St. Louis represents Gallup.
