A Mount Carmel man is suing the local utility company after he was allegedly shocked by a fallen power line.

Christopher McIntire filed a lawsuit June 28 in Madison County Circuit Court against Mount Carmel Public Utility Company.

McIntire says he was a customer of Mount Carmel Public Utility Company and the electric company operated power lines outside of his home in the 1000 block of North Pear Street. When he walked out of his house in July 2011, McIntire says he was hit in the head by a power line that fell. He claims he was "electrocuted," suffered a concussion and lost his hearing.

McIntire accuses Mount Carmel Public Utility Company of negligence for failing to properly maintain the electricity lines outside of his house. He asks for more than $75,000 in damages for medical expenses and court fees.

Attorneys E. Ryan Bradley and Ryan L. Bruning of St. Louis represent McIntire.
